Winter women’s study

We all know the importance of studying God’s Word! We also know that at times we can be frustrated about how to approach God’s Word and where to start digging deeper. Years ago, the women of Roots Church gathered together to work through this book by Jen Wilkin–Women of the Word–that strengthened our approach to the Scriptures, giving us tools to engage the text with both our minds and our hearts. This resulted in a passion for the Word that continues to this day. Join us for four short weeks in January as we seek to become biblically literate women of the Word.

January Study | 630P | 5th, 12th, 26th, February 2.

Men’s Group

Men’s Group meets from 6:30-8p on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. Time is spent digging into 1 Timothy, as well as getting to know each other more deeply and finding ways to challenge and encourage each other in our walks with Christ and the various roles we have in life.

Sunday school

One of our goals is to equip the church for ministry, maturity and stability. To that end, we are doing a Sunday School class covering basic Christian beliefs. The class meets Sundays from 9-10am, going through J.I. Packer’s book Concise Theology. There is no childcare, but you are welcome to bring your children.

How to study and teach the Bible course

For those desiring to deepen their ability to study and teach the Bible, we are offering a once a month course covering relevant topics: the nature of Scripture, principles of interpretation, keeping Jesus the center, and more. The class will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month, from 5:30-6:30, with a bit of homework in between classes. Let Derek know if you are interested.

Community Groups

We currently have two community groups up and running. These groups share some food, and discuss the week’s sermon.

Stanwood group: meets twice a month on Sundays from 4:30-6:30. Facilitated by Hans, and meets at Shaun and Becky Larsen’s home. They share a meal, then have time of discussion.

Seven Lakes/Marysville group: meets twice a month on Sundays, from 6:30-8. Facilitated by Nate Greenland, and meets at the Greenland home. They share dessert and coffee, then have time of discussion.
