Our Leadership

Pastor / Elder

Derek Fekkes

Derek Fekkes grew up on Camano Island, graduating from Stanwood H.S. in 2002. He has long had a heart to see the community of Stanwood and Camano Island find joy in knowing Christ.

He and his wife Anlee moved back in 2013 to begin the process of planting a new church in the area.

After receiving pastoral training and experience at Communion Church in Mount Vernon and going through a church planting assessment process with the 3Strand Network, Derek is excited to have the opportunity to weekly preach God’s Word to a growing community of people.

His passion is to help others understand, boast in, and proclaim the gospel of God’s grace in Jesus.

On another note, Derek is a complete nerd. He enjoys birdwatching, running, and reading books on theology and church history. Derek is daily grateful to be married to his beautiful wife Anlee and to be dad to Ezra, Emerson and Eliza.

Pastor / Elder

Nate Greenland

Nate has lived in various parts of Snohomish county his entire life, minus a few years at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, where he met his wife, Carly.  They have been married for over 22 years and have four sons.

Nate grew up in the church and had a relationship with Jesus from a young age, but really grew into that relationship during his college years.  Through studying Christian ministry for a degree and serving as the student chaplain at George Fox, Nate’s call to ministry was affirmed.  Over the years, he has served as a lay-elder in three churches including Roots.

Nate loves to encourage others in the freedom from sin and the new identity that the Gospel promises and produces and that he has experienced powerfully himself.  He takes joy in God’s work in and through the local church.

Apart from working as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, in the bits of spare time that he has, Nate enjoys reading/listening to audiobooks, hiking, camping, and the occasional waterski outing, as well as proving to his four boys that he can still compete with them in a thing or two.
